Thousands of trekkers come to Nepal to trek every year. A significant number of travelers go to either Everest or Annapurna region. Consequently, trekking has been vastly commercialized in Nepal. While there are both good and bad aspects to it, trekkers are sometimes left disappointed when they can’t find the level of wilderness and peacefulness they expect. Luckily, there are still few trekking regions in Nepal that haven’t yet been popularized yet and receive significantly fewer footsteps. The history of trekking in Nepal dates back to the time when the country first opened its gates to foreigners in 1949. Avid British adventurer Bill Tilman first obtained the permission of King Tribhuvan to make a number of treks into the Everest region, Kali Gandaki Valley, and Helambu regions.

However, trekking today has changed by miles. The trails in all major regions are well-marked. Tea houses and eateries are everywhere. The mobile network even reaches to the Everest Base Camp. Impressive, isn’t it?

Nar Phu Valley Trek

During this trek, you will pass through some very remote town and villages, ravines, mystical woodlands, rock canyons, yak caravans, and monasteries. However, the main highlight of the trek is crossing two high passes called Kang La Pass and Thorong La Pass at elevations of 5,100 meters and 5,416 meters.

During the trek, you will have excellent views of Annapurna Massif, Manaslu range, and Pisang peak to name a few. The route will also pass through the beautiful Tilicho Lake. However, due to the region’s isolation and strenuous trails, we only recommend this trek for those who have experience of trekking in the Himalaya’s before.

Ganesh Himal Trek

Ganesh Himal Trek will trek you through a track overlooked by the majestic Ganesh Himal sub-range of Central Nepal. This massif gets its name from the elephant-headed god, Ganesh and has four peaks over seven thousand meters. The trek can be completed within just 9-11 days. Also known as Ruby Valley Trek, it only witnesses very few numbers of trekkers every year.

This trek offers you completely unspoiled natural vicinity, splendid views of the Himalayans, and an opportunity to mingle with the native Sherpa and Tamang people. The trek begins from Betraweti in Trishuli region and ascends through several villages, lush rhododendron forests, and terraced fields. Here too, you will cross two high Himalayan passes – Pangsang La and Shing La Pass – that offer just the right amount of adventure to your journey.

The trek offers fantastic views of Ganesh Himal massif, Langtang range, and even the Annapurna massif! Since the region is not as famous as Everest and Annapurna region, accommodation can only be relied upon during peak season. The peak season is spring and autumn, of course!

Khair Ridge Trek

Khiar Ridge trek, also popularly known as Khopra Ridge trek, is a newly discovered trekking route in the Annapurna region. This 14-day-long passes through the classic Annapurna Base Camp trek and Mustang trek and encompasses the absolute best of both regions.

This trek is perfect for those Himalayan-lovers who are looking for an adventure that includes just the right amount of experience, thrill, and a sense of serenity as well. Often overshadowed by other popular trekking trails in the Annapurna region, Khair Ridge trek sees only a few very trekkers every year. The trek begins from Nayapul in Kaski and passes through popular Gurung villages like Dharapani and Tirkhe Dhunga.

This off-beaten trek offers magnificent views of the Annapurna Massif, Dhaulagiri Massif, Kali Gandaki Gorge (deepest in the world)! Sounds amazing, doesn’t it? Even more, the main highlight of this full trek is visiting the beautiful glacial lake of Khair Pokhari and hiking to the top of incredible Kopra Ridge.

Helambu Cultural Trek

Helambu Cultural Trek falls under the Langtang region that is only 19 miles away from the Kathmandu Valley. Despite that, it doesn’t receive as many trekkers as the Everest and Annapurna region. This trek is specially designed to offer trekkers with best of peaceful Langtang. This trek can be completed in just 5 days, but if you want to stretch it, you can always add more destinations.

The trek commences from the beautiful Sundarijal watershed area in Shivapuri Nagarjun national park. During the trek, you will pass through some stunning villages like Tarke Gyang and Sermathang. Even more, you will be rewarded with the stunning views of Ganesh Himal Massif and other central peaks.

The trek offers you a wonderful chance to learn about the rich culture of the Hyolmo people. Since the region falls under the ancient trade route to the Tibet, you can see the heavy Tibetan influence in the culture and lifestyle of the Hyolmo people.
