Ama Dablam is located in the Everest region of Nepal and belongs to the Himalayan ranges. The name of this beautiful mountain can be literally translated into Mother’s Necklace. This is due to the geographic layout of the mountain, with its ridges seen as a mother’s arms holding a child and the glacier located below it to be the necklace. As you tackle the geography and the harsh climate of the region, you will reach its peak which is measured at 6812 m. The view from the top is considered to be one of the most beautiful one, consisting of a panoramic view of other ranges such as Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse and so on.

The Ama Dablam expedition will start at the capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu which offers an outlook to a harmonious balance between culture and modernity. A short but scenic flight will take you to the town of Lukla. From Lukla, you will then travel to Namche Bazar which is inhabited by the Sherpa community. Here, you will get a chance to interact with the locals and visit the markets which will help you gain a unique perspective into their lifestyle and culture as well as how different it is from the urban regions of the world. As you trek on towards the village of Pangboche, you will get your first glimpse of Ama Dablam. In this village, you will also be able to visit the nearby monastery which claims to hold remains of a Yeti.

Detailed Itinerary

You will arrive at the capital city, Kathmandu. From a flight, the valley of Kathmandu looks like a bowl with a crown of majestic hills surrounding it. The city itself gives a quaint vibe, with a great harmonious diversity in religion, culture, and traditions. Overnight in Kathmandu.

As you have a free day in Kathmandu, you can explore the beautiful city of Kathmandu. Considered to be one of the best cities to experience lifestyle and culture. This city possesses landmarks such as Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, and Swayambhunath that you can visit and enjoy. Also, you will prepare for your expedition which includes you making sure that you have the necessary items you require in order to travel. Overnight in Kathmandu.

From Kathmandu, you will take a flight to the town of Lukla. This flight may be short but is filled with picturesque scenes of hills and Himalayas. Located in the Everest region, Lukla is a famous destination for travelers who are bound towards the Everest ranges. Overnight in Lukla.

From Lukla, you will take a trail towards the beautiful village of Namche Bazar. This village is mostly inhabited by the Sherpa community and lies on the side of a hill. Located at an altitude of 3340m, the skyline of this village consists of great hills and mountain peaks such as Kongde Ri and Thamserku. Overnight in Namche Bazar.

You will spend a day in Namche Bazar in order to get used to the climate of the region. This process is called as acclimatization and is incredibly important when traveling to regions at higher altitude in order to prevent cases of altitude sickness. You can explore the village which is famous for its market with local goods. Also, you can interact with the locals in order to get an insight into their life and culture. Overnight in Namche Bazar.

From Namche Bazar, a trail of 6 hours will take you to the village of Pangboche. Located near to Ama Dablam at an altitude of 3930m, this village offers a beautiful view of the mountain itself. This village is famous for housing a monastery which claims to possess remains of a Yeti. Overnight in Pangboche.

From Pangboche, you will trek towards the base camp of Ama Dablam. The base camp is located at an altitude of 4600m. The trail will lead you through barren mountainsides and sparsely vegetated lands which is native to this region, finally reaching the base camo which lies at an altitude of 4600m. A total of 17 days have been set aside for you to climb towards the peak of Ama Dablam. Amongst these days, there is time set apart for climbing, exploring as well as resting and acclimatization. Considered to be a tougher mountain to climb, you will proceed slowly towards the peak from where a breathtaking view of the region along with other mountains of Himalayan ranges such as Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse etc can be witnessed.

You will head back towards Namche Bazar. After your expedition, the village comes as a pleasant stay. Once in the village, you can explore the markets and its surrounding area. Overnight in Namche Bazar.

From Namche Bazar, you will head back towards the town of Lukla. Since Lukla is a tourist destination, you can explore what this town has to offer in terms of cafes and lodges. Overnight in Lukla.

From Lukla, you will take a flight back towards the capital city of Kathmandu. As you fly over the clouds, a vast panoramic view of the Himalayas will greet your eyes. Once back in Kathmandu, you will head back towards your hotel and you can choose to spend the evening exploring the city. Overnight in Kathmandu.
