Chitwan National Park

  • Destination:Nepal

Located in south-central Nepal and established in 1973, Chitwan National Park is a fabulous wildlife sanctuary. True to its name Chitta meaning Heart and Wan meaning Jungle, the national park dwells in the heart of every soul who visits this beautiful land. The Park consists of a diversity of ecosystems-including the Churia hills, Ox-bow lakes, and the floodplains of the Rapti, Reu and Narayani Rivers. The Churia hills rise slowly towards the East from 150 m. to more than 800 m. The western portion of the Park is comprised of the lower but more rugged, Someshwor hill. The Park shares its eastern boundary with the Parsa Wildlife Reserve.

The park homes some of the endangered species like Royal Bengal tiger, one-horn rhino, sloth bear, leopards, rare monkeys and deer and over 500 species of enchanting birds. Chitwan is surprisingly not so far from two busiest cities in the country. You can take a cab or bus to reach the park in about 5 to 6 hours or a 15-minute hassle free flight direct to Bharatpur airport.

Take week-long stay or short 3 days package, you will enjoy every beat of your time here – closer to the wild nature, colorful Tharu communities and a warm embrace of the beautiful landscape.

You have many options to visit the jungle – go on an elephant ride, take the jeep to deep inside the jungle, or walk inside the jungle and experience the thrill of being in a wild side of nature – but always remember not to wander around without your guide, for your safety.

Elephant ride
– the most popular way to explore the jungle is also one of the safest ways. Unlike jeep, it is quieter and allows you to be closer to rhinos if you happen to encounter one. Enjoy some elephant tricks and be cooperative with these gentle giants.

Jungle walk
– looking for adventure, and if you can handle your adrenaline then take a jungle walk with an expert. There is every chance you will encounter wild animals. Always listen and follow your experts’ instructions. And make sure you are not wearing bright color clothes – you will be easily visible and it triggers flight or fight mode for the animals – either way, it is not happy news for you. Although renowned as the best destination for the jungle walk, your safety and keeping you alive is our first priority.

Jeep safari
for those who dislike slow bumpy elephant ride and prone to anxiety, jeeps provide the perfect option for quicker and more comfortable experience. There are options for short or full day safari of Chitwan National Park. There are high chances of seeing tigers in full day safari. And follow instructions sincerely, again no bright color clothes.

Village walk
Tharus, local indigenous communities are colorful and rich in culture. You will get the chance to interact with them share stories, myths, and beliefs. Some of which will surely amaze you.
